Dear devotees and friends,

Please accept my humble obeisances and kind regards in remembrance of our beloved Srila Gurudev.

I believe I speak for all in attendance at this year’s Sri Govinda Mela in saying that I am overjoyed by the heart-touching experience we all had together. The warm atmosphere reminiscent of Srila Gurudev’s world tours, the fulfillment of Srila Gurudev’s desire through the building the Sri Giriraja Raja Mandira, the excellent delivery of Hari-katha by our distinguished speakers, and the abundance of service energy offered by so many participants in preparation for and throughout the Mela, amongst many other qualities of the gathering, have greatly delighted us all. I pray all the momentum created by this year’s Mela will inspire the community to make a concerted effort to continue the event annually for years to come.

With the Bhakti Yoga Retreat this weekend and Sri Govinda Mela just around the corner the Seva Ashram is buzzing with activity.

Sripad Madhusudhan Maharaj, Sripad Nyasi Maharaj and Sri Vishakha Devi Dasi have arrived and are giving classes.

Something magnificent is manifesting on the hilltop after months of hard work on the part of Sripad Hasyapriya Prabhu and a hardworking crew.

I’m pleased to announce that Sripad Bhakti Kamal Tyagi Maharaj will probably be arriving today, September 7th at the Santa Cruz Seva Ashram. He’ll go to San Jose on Thursday the 8th for Harinam Sankirtan and Sri Lalita Saptami at the San Jose Ashram. Friday he will be in Santa Cruz for Sri Radhastami at mid-day and hopefully for the smaller evening program as well. Saturday he plans to go to San Francisco for Harinam Sankirtan.

Everyone is warmly encouraged to join with the Sankirtan parties in San Jose and San Francisco and of course to attend all the spiritual programs in the Ashrams.

I hope you and your family will be able to attend the holy day of Sri Radhastami, the Divine Appearance of Srimati Radharani in San Jose or Santa Cruz. There will be programs at mid-day as well as a modest program in the evening in Santa Cruz led by Vidura Krishna Prabhu, Vrinda Devi Dasi, and hopefully Sripad Bhakti Kamal Tyagi Maharaj.

There will be modest programs for Sri Lalita Saptami on Thursday, September 8th. In San Jose Sripad Tyagi Maharaj will go downtown for Harinam Sankirtan and give a class at the temple. In Santa Cruz Sripad Sarvabhavana Prabhu will offer an evening class beginning around 7 pm.

They were taken in April and May 2016 all over Northern California as a small group of devotees from our mission made a point of visiting old and new friends. Since then we’ve been many more places and are still on the road.

Sripad Tyagi Maharaj and Abhinava Sundar Prabhu from Australia are our inspirational kirtan leaders. Shanti Moyi joined us from Italy. Several ladies from the San Jose and Santa Cruz temples joined us as well including Divya Shakti, Kalindi, and Vimala Devi Dasis.      On behalf of Srila Bhakti Kusum Ashram Maharaj and Mexican devotees, we have the honor to invite you to the Kids and Youth Camp to be held near Tijuana, in Puerto Nuevo, this Summer, starting from July 22nd until August 7th.
     By the Grace of our Gurudevas, we can offer a free accommodation and only it’s necessary that you bring a sleeping bag with you. Sripad Bhakti Kamal Tyagi Maharaj and several devotees including myself, Divyashakti Didi, Brajamohini Didi, and Govindanandini Didi, recently returned from an eight day preaching tour. Praying to Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Maharaj and Srila Bhakti Pavan Janardan Maharaj for their mercy, we tried to carry the message of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Harinam Sankirtan to the towns and villages of Northern California and Oregon. Lord Chaitanya Himself said,

pritivite ache yata nagaradi grama
sarvatra prachara haibe mora nama

“In every town and village, the chanting of My name will be heard.”

–Sri Chaitanya-bhagavat, Antya 4.126

Our first program was held in Sacramento at the Laxmi Narayan Mandir. Hari Balava Prabhu cooked and was able to offer the bhoga to Sri Sri Radha-Krsna. After a beautiful lecture from Bhakti Kamal Tyagi Maharaj, the devotees served our guests Mahaprasad.

From there the party continued to Chico where we met local devotees including Daitananda Prabhu in the park and performed Sankirtan.

Next, we traveled to the house of Bimal Krsna Prabhu and Ishtadevika Didi in beautiful Arcata. The sound of the Holy Name could be heard in downtown Arcata all afternoon, and after a wonderful lecture from Sripad Tyagi Maharaj at the Community Yoga Center, there was more rousing chanting of the Holy Name with everyone there dancing and singing.

Off to Eugene, where Sripad Mathuranath Prabhu and his family hosted Sripad Tyagi Maharaj and the devotees for the weekend. Harinam was performed downtown whereupon we met the host of a radio show who invited Sripad Tyagi Maharaj to speak live on the air to the people of Eugene. For over an hour one could hear the message of Mahaprabhu over the airwaves and online!

After another successful evening program at Freedom Yoga Center, we joined the masses at the Oregon Country Fair. As we paraded through the quirky festival chanting the Names of the Lord, many were captivated and began singing and dancing with us.

Before returning to Santa Cruz we made one last stop in Fairfax at the house of Anukulchandra Prabhu and Jenna for an intimate and sweet program. They invited their friends and were very pleased to have a comfortable forum for asking their questions about Krishna Consciousness to someone so qualified as Sripad Tyagi Maharaj.

On behalf of the whole group I would like to sincerely thank all those who helped us with this tour. We hope to see you all again soon!
